Zim recovers seized diamonds

Diamonds seized during an tender at the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) last year, have been recovered by Zimbabwe.

A South African company Amari secured a temporary freeze the proceeds from the tender claiming ownership by the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation.

In a notice yesterday, the ruling has now made it through the appeals process and has been implemented in full. AWDC said the final installment of 500 000 carats of seized diamonds worth a little under $29 million will be returned to Zimbabwe ending the dispute.
